The Franciscan Essay & The Author

The Franciscan Essay is always a celebration of life in thoughts, by words, with feeling. On any subject under the sun – except Chemistry and Statistics – the first I don’t understand, the second I don’t appreciate.

Why ‘author’ and not ‘journalist’ or ‘writer?’ You can be a journalist and author; you already are an author if you are a writer – but I am not a journalist although I may write news along with my views.

My #1 essay here explains the origin and meaning of my Franciscan essay. I get ideas from thin air as well as from thick books and wondering wildly ‘what if?’

I also now take my own photographs to accompany my essays. The image here suggests how a Franciscan essay looks like and what it tells. It’s very personal and very subjective. I’m a science journalist who will not claim being objective, as I know that that is neither possible nor wise. If you’re not with me, you’re against me. You have to take sides. Even the scientists take sides.
